Remote monitoring solution for tap water quality

1、 Industry Status and Introduction to EMCP Platform

With the acceleration of urban and rural integration construction in recent years, the tap water supply network has become increasingly large and scattered. The tap water supply network, as an extremely important infrastructure in cities, is closely related to urban and rural livelihood, economic and social development. Strengthening the informatization construction of the tap water supply network is of great significance. By utilizing computer information technology and communication technology, dynamic monitoring and automated information management of the main parameters and equipment operation status of the tap water supply pipeline network have been achieved, achieving intuitive display of monitoring point information and real-time understanding of pipeline operation status; Playing an important role in the scheduling and decision-making of the tap water supply network has become the key to ensuring the economic and reliable operation of the tap water supply network.

EMCP is an IoT cloud platform that serves industry and agriculture, supporting seamless access across multiple users, industries, and devices. Enterprises can quickly and conveniently upgrade their products/systems to the Internet of Things through the EMCP platform without the need for programming or software installation, creating their own IoT cloud platform. The EMCP IoT cloud platform serves as the core brain for device access, configuration, management, display, and data processing. Users can view device status, real-time data, and historical data by opening their mobile phones through web pages and mobile apps no matter where they are, and can also remotely control the device through their mobile phones.

2.1.1 Online water quality monitoring instruments

The current common manufacturers of online water quality monitoring instruments are: Hash HACH in the United States

Germany E+H

Israel Blue I

Germany's Koze Kuntze, Canada's AVVOR, Germany's Aldous ALLDOS, Shanghai Bosch, Hebei Koreda, etc. The collected water quality parameters include temperature, pH, conductivity, turbidity, residual chlorine, etc.

2.1.2 Wireless data transmission equipment

Hebei Lanfeng Technology EG20 adopts a standard 232/485 communication interface. As long as a GPRS data card is built-in, it can communicate with the EMCP server system. After the water quality detection instrument is connected to the EG20 module through 232/485, the EG20 module will automatically collect the measurement values of each measuring instrument and transmit the data to the EMCP Internet of Things cloud platform through the GPRS network. EG20 has strong universality, as long as the on-site water quality online monitoring equipment supports MODBUS protocol (or analog output instrument), it can be plug and play; Compact in size, easy to install and use, without the need for too many professional skills.

2.1.3 EMCP IoT Cloud Platform

EMCP is a distributed architecture cloud based IoT platform composed of multiple servers. Users can achieve seamless integration of lower level instruments, meters, or devices to the EMCP platform through EG20. Remote monitoring of devices through web pages and mobile apps can be achieved through simple configuration. The entire platform is stable and reliable, meeting the networking needs of user products or systems. Let your device plug into the wings of "Internet plus".

On site instrument outputs 4-20mA or other analog quantities

Firstly, connect the water quality detection equipment to EG20 using the 485 bus (if the instrument outputs 4-20mA or other analog signals, we need to convert the analog signals to RS485 communication output), insert the SIM card into EG20, connect EG20 to the computer through a 232 data cable, and power on all devices. Open the DTU Configuration Software to configure the module. For specific configuration methods, please refer to the DTU Configuration Software User Manual document. After configuration is completed, log in to the EMCP IoT Cloud Platform, add devices, and add rules. For specific methods, please refer to the EMCP IoT Cloud Platform Operation Manual. After all the configuration work is completed, we can open the computer's web page to view and control the water quality testing equipment. On the landing page, the mobile phone scans the QR code to download the Yunlian Wutong APP software, installs and logs in. At this time, the newly configured device appears in our mobile phone. In just ten minutes, the water quality detection device can be connected to the Internet. No matter where you are, you can turn on your mobile phone to monitor the on-site water quality at any time.

Does the EMCP platform support video access? The answer is yes. You only need to input the serial number of the Hikvision network camera into the device's configuration rules to connect the video device to the platform. Open your phone to view real-time videos of water quality testing sites.

The EMCP IoT platform analyzes and processes real-time water quality parameters collected on site, not only recording the collected data in real time, but also storing it into historical data reports and conducting trend analysis, displaying the data to users in an intuitive chart and curve manner.

2.3 System Implementation Functions

Data statistics: It can collect and record various water quality conditions at monitoring points in real-time 24 hours a day online, and display and record monitoring information in various ways such as digital, graphic, and image. The monitoring points can reach up to hundreds of points.

Fault alarm: When there is abnormal data at the monitored point, an alarm signal can be automatically sent out. The alarm methods include: on-site multimedia sound and light alarm, network client alarm, mobile short message alarm, etc.

Web monitoring: Management personnel can open their computers and log in to the platform to see the running status of their devices, without the need for software installation throughout the entire process. Everything is as convenient as surfing the internet.

APP monitoring: Put the device in your pocket, and no matter where you are, open your phone to view and control the water quality monitoring device.

Equipment release: The Environmental Protection Bureau or community property management can release water quality monitoring equipment through the EMCP platform, generate QR codes, and post them on public areas, official websites, or promotional posters. The public can scan their mobile phones to know the real-time situation of water quality.

Redundant design: The system is designed with interfaces reserved, and hardware devices can be added at any time. The system only needs to make a small amount of changes, which can be completed in a very short time.

3、 Implementation steps

We will not elaborate on common matters such as power supply design, installation, and SIM card. During installation and use, safety must be taken into consideration, and it is best to install it through professional personnel. If there are any issues, Blue Bee technicians are very willing to help everyone.

Step 1: Purchase our EG20 smart wireless gateway. Log in to the official website to contact our sales personnel.

Step 2: Users can choose reliable sensors on the market, which can be wired or wireless (433/zigbee). Connect the sensor to the 485 communication port of the EG20 module via the 485 bus. Wireless sensors can connect the wireless gateway to the EG20 module.

Step 3: Configure DTU and check module status. Please refer to the DTU Configuration Manual here. We can download it from the official website download center.

Step 4: Open the EMCP IoT Cloud Platform www.lfemcp.com to register an account. After successful registration, enter the platform to add devices and configure data rules. Please refer to the EMCP Cloud Platform User Manual, which can be downloaded from the official website download center. If you need to access the video, please contact our customer service for authorization.

Step 5: After completing the above steps, you can view our device on the web page and mobile app.

4、 Summary

The application of online remote water quality detection is becoming increasingly widespread. The implementation of traditional methods requires developers to program, while with the help of the EMCP IoT cloud platform, you can avoid programming and solve the difficulties of remote water quality detection quickly, conveniently, low-cost, and multifunctional. Create your own IoT cloud platform through EMCP, and let your equipment plug into the wings of "Internet plus".

Mission: No programming required, just simple configuration, allowing devices to connect to the cloud in minutes.
