Remote monitoring solution for natural gas wells
1、 Project background
With the increasing scale of natural gas development, the number of natural gas wells is also constantly increasing. And the location is scattered and the environment is harsh. The traditional manual inspection method is increasingly unable to meet the production needs and safety guarantees of natural gas wells. Natural gas wells consist of storage tanks and gas gathering stations. The gas gathering station inputs natural gas into storage tanks or outputs it from the gas storage device through a metering station, and then delivers it to various users through pipelines.
Therefore, in order to ensure the normal production of natural gas wells, real-time monitoring is necessary. It is necessary to establish a comprehensive remote real-time information monitoring system in order to centrally monitor the operation status of all gas wells, receive alarm messages as soon as possible, reduce production management difficulties, lower operation and maintenance costs, and ensure production safety and smooth progress.
2、 Current situation of gas well production management
The daily operation and management of natural gas wells are currently carried out through the use of a station on duty management model. However, natural gas wells located in remote areas do not have the necessary conditions for station construction due to various constraints, and the input-output ratio for constructing stations for low-pressure and low production wells is not proportional, making them unsuitable for station construction.
The safe operation of natural gas wells requires timely mastery of wellhead operating parameters and status. Regular manual inspections to obtain information will inevitably lead to data lag; Failure to promptly report and handle sudden wellhead anomalies; Meanwhile, due to the lack of effective supervision mechanisms, the timeliness and accuracy of data cannot be effectively guaranteed.

2. Scope of application of the system
Natural gas wells located in remote areas
Low pressure and low production natural gas wells
Natural gas wells that do not meet the conditions for station construction
Well stations that require a reduction in personnel allocation or a reduction in the workload of existing personnel
4、 System composition structure
The system consists of on-site natural gas well data acquisition terminal, edge computing gateway, and cloud platform monitoring system. The system is a comprehensive remote monitoring and management system that integrates data collection, transmission, analysis, and management, with the network as the main communication method.
Edge computing gateway: It supports 4G networking, and is equipped with high-performance industrial ARM processors. As a "device manager", EG20 connects devices through the network port/RS485/RS232 serial port. It can implement applications such as device data analysis, data collection, alarm judgment, edge computing, data storage, breakpoint continuation, data cleaning and transmission at the edge. Collaborating with the EMCP IoT cloud platform to achieve cloud edge collaboration, it can quickly create device networking and monitoring applications for users.
IoT cloud platform: Enterprises can quickly and conveniently upgrade their products/systems to the Internet of Things through the EMCP platform without programming, installing and running software, or hiring IT engineers, creating a dedicated IoT cloud platform for enterprises.
On the cloud platform, functions such as large screen display of cloud configuration data center, work order operation and maintenance, video monitoring, and data over limit alarm can be achieved.
5、 System advantages
1. Through the data center display of the distributed natural gas well monitoring platform, the working situation of the equipment on site can be viewed in real time. The equipment distribution is clear at a glance, and the operation status, fault situation, and gas production situation of all regions can be displayed based on different provinces, cities, counties, and towns. Abnormal real-time alarms can be triggered to ensure operational safety.
2. The data collection is timely and accurate, and the platform supports data storage of the collected data, ultimately forming historical reports, which can achieve evidence-based historical data. High quality reports can make the basic situation of gas wells more transparent and help managers make decisions that are conducive to improving production efficiency.
3. The platform has a work order operation and maintenance function, which can monitor devices while managing their operations. The equipment management function supports batch downloading of device QR codes, printing and pasting them into the devices. Users can scan the code through the mobile app for equipment warranty and inspection at any time. When the device malfunctions, they can scan the code through the app to submit a work order, and the maintenance personnel receive the order for repair. The system records the repair progress and stores it into a report, Equipment management personnel can view device maintenance records on both PC and mobile devices, and promptly understand and analyze the causes of device failures.
4. Normally, it supports the creation of intelligent inspection plans and can generate inspection orders, automatically dispatch orders. The system will automatically create inspection records according to the inspection plan. Inspection personnel can conduct inspections based on the inspection orders issued by the system. Management personnel can view the inspection records and results at any time on the PC and mobile app, which can effectively prompt after-sales work efficiency, achieve maintenance problems that can be traced and tracked, and consolidate operation and maintenance responsibilities.
5. On the cloud platform control interface, commands can be directly issued to remote devices by pressing buttons or filling in parameters, in order to optimize and adjust equipment parameters, conduct equipment operation testing, and switch on/off switch actions. Through the EMCP cloud platform maintenance system, remote diagnosis, debugging, and remote downloading of the natural gas well monitoring system can be carried out.
